Murree: According to the most recent information, “Tourists Facilitation Centers” were established in Murree to serve tourists as a pre-strategic step because winter is approaching earlier. The tourist facilitation facilities have reportedly been set up in five key locations for the snow season, which runs from December 1, 2023, to March 1, 2024. The aforementioned centers’ main objective is to guarantee the safety and direction of visitors.
The following Murree locations are home to the five tourist facilitation centers:
- Guldna
- Gali Jhika
- Bottom of the Topa
- GPO Chowk
- Changla Gali
These facilities will be managed by the central control room located in Jinnah Hall, the GPO Chowk Facilitation Center.
Staff from various departments have been dispatched to the centers, which will be open around the clock. These departments include:
IESCO Travel
- Civil defence
- Police on the way
- Punjabi highways
- Board of cantonment Police station
- Department of Meteorology, Municipal Corporation
There is a stringent 18,000 automobile limit on entry into Murree during a snowfall in order to manage the surge. At the aforementioned places, access will be stopped by electronic vehicle counting once the limit is reached. Special picket posts have been set up from the following to control entry routes:
- Islamabad
- Rawalpindi
- Kashmiri Kotli Sattian Azad
- Khyber Pakhtunkhwa
The District Officer for Civil Defense, Mr. Talib Hussain, emphasized the necessity of implementing a comprehensive emergency plan in December 2023, January, and February of 2024. Visitors should bring food, water bottles, blankets, warm clothing, and tiny gas burners. To enter Murree, a car needs to be fully fueled.
Additionally, some 35 civil defence workers, 15 of whom are armed officers will be positioned in parking lots and markets across Murree, offering security through the use of stun guns and walkie-talkies. Carrying a firearm, fighting, and firing from the air are all prohibited by strong rules, and breaching them can lead to an arrest and possible legal action.
Official rates for tea, coffee, and other commodities in the marketplaces have been set in order to guarantee equitable pricing. Apart from enforcing stringent measures to prevent overcharging, price judges will oversee rates from 9 am to 1 pm. Furthermore, according to Mr. Talib, hotels have their rentals classified with harsh penalties in case of any breaches, and they are designed to avoid overcharging.
