Swat Invites Snow-Seeking Tourists as Police Ensure Safety

August 22, 2023

Sajjad Khan, the regional police officer for the Malakand division, has invited snow-seeking tourists to visit Swat this winter.

At a press conference held at the Swat Press Club on Monday, he revealed that, in addition to questioning the relatives of terrorists, police had conducted 382 search operations and 85 intelligence-based operations in the area.

“Swat and the surrounding area are now completely safe. Nothing disturbs the tranquility of the valley. According to the RPO, “We have arrested eight wanted culprits under 7ATA.” He continued by saying that two encouragement groups were apprehended by police after receiving a tip.

He said that throughout search and strike operations in Swat, no terrorists were located. Swat is the Asian equivalent of paradise. Tourists flock there in the summer and the winter. He was pleased to report that 2,773 international tourists visited Swat in 2022, with 287 making the trip in October alone.

The RPO assured the public that law enforcement will treat tourists with respect. “They have to come here to take advantage of the snow and the locals’ warm welcome,” he remarked.

He reported that drug paddlers and dealers were being arrested by the cops. He announced plans to educate pupils about the dangers of drug use. In addition, he claimed that 131 kilograms of hashish, over two kilograms of heroin, 96 liters of beer, and over two kilograms of ice were all confiscated in the area throughout the month.

He stated that 55 offenders were apprehended and that illicit weapons including 22 small machine guns, 47 rifles, 252 pistols, 48 other types of weapons, and 5,834 cartridges were collected.

MEETING: On Monday, Malakand Commissioner Shaukat Ali Yousafzai met with a group from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), led by project manager Caroline and deputy director Alberto Groff.

SDC’s assistance in post-flood rehabilitation and restoration of roads and hotels, as well as sensitization of people on climate change, were among the topics covered at the conference.

The commissioner gave an update to the delegation on the district’s recovery from recent flooding. He tried to get more aid for the places that had been hit.
