Murree’s Heavy Snowfall Leaves Tourists Stuck

February 1, 2024

With over ten inches of snowfall in the last 24 hours, Murree, a well-liked tourist destination, is facing challenging conditions. A bottleneck on the Murree Expressway and breakdowns due to ice roads pose a problem for tourists who become stranded.

Despite sporadic snowfall impeding progress, the National Highway Authority (NHA) and residents are working together to clear the roadways. For visitors, the situation worsens with power disruptions and skyrocketing accommodation rates.

Predicting continued precipitation and snowfall, the meteorological department contacts the Relief Commissioner Punjab to arrange for efficient road clearance. For effective traffic control, the Islamabad authorities have limited Murree’s access to a distance of 17 miles.
