Man Travels To Islamabad On Horseback With A Mission

Gilgit: A polo player has embarked on a journey from Siachen to Islamabad on horseback to raise awareness about climate change and adventure tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan.Musa Ali, 48, will leave his village on November 13th and arrive in the federal capital on International Mountain Day (December 11th). He lives in Gulshan Kabir village near Siachen Glacier in the Ghanche district of Gilgit-Baltistan.Speaking to Lakeshore City, Musa Ali said he is a polo player and a military veteran. On his horse, he covered the 900-km route to Islamabad via the Juglot-Skardu road and Karakoram highway.He said his mission is to raise awareness about the potential of adventure tourism and the threat of climate change in Gilgit-Baltistan. The Prime Minister said he would arrive in Islamabad on  World Mountains Day to message the world that Britain has the potential for adventure tourism but is vulnerable to the effects of climate change.Thousands of domestic and international tourists, including mountaineers, visit the region for adventure tourism and mountain summit climbing every year.Mr Musa Ali said unplanned tourism activities were putting the area at risk. “My message is to protect the local environment.” The riders were warmly welcomed at various Baltistan, Ghanche, and Skardu locations.
