Dubai’s Diversified Approach Leads to Surge in Tourist Numbers

August 22, 2023

A top official with Dubai Economy and Tourism emphasized on Thursday that a “diversified approach” has helped tap new markets, which contributed to an increase of 11.4 million overnight foreign visitors to Dubai between January and October 2022, an increase of 134% from the same period in 2021.

According to DCTCM CEO Issam Kazim, the company has successfully expanded into 82 new regions this year because of its innovative marketing approaches.

According to Khaleej Times, Kazim made these comments during the just completed Skift Global Forum East in Dubai.

“The emirate is working on not just the products, but the pricing and the timing to ensure tourists are catered to in terms of their budgets and requirements,” Kazim was cited as saying by Khaleej Times.

While the rest of the globe has yet to fully recover from Covid-19, we have been able to show some success in our statistics. He also mentioned that the company’s strategy diversification has allowed them to break into new markets.

Overnight visitors to Dubai more than doubled in the first 10 months of 2022. According to Khaleej Times, visitors from countries like India and Oman were the most numerous, with numbers in the millions, followed by those from Saudi Arabia, the United Kingdom, Russia, the United States, Germany, Pakistan, France, and Iran.

This coincides with news that Dubai’s tourism board is collaborating with the government to expand the availability of five-year multiple-entry visitor visas.

“The response to the five-year tourist visa has been positive, although the program is being introduced gradually at the moment. Because the multi-entry visa will again help us with a lot of [tourists], especially from the neighboring region, we are working closely with authorities to guarantee that we roll out on a much larger scale very soon,” Kazim was quoted as saying by Khaleej Times.

He also mentioned that the DCTCM digital platform is now being updated so that tourists can apply for a five-year visa.

According to Euromonitor International’s Top 100 City Destinations Index 2022, Dubai is the second most alluring city destination in the world for tourists.

The coveted top 10 was completed by the cities of Paris, Dubai, Amsterdam, Madrid, Rome, London, Munich, Berlin, Barcelona, and New York.
