ABBOTTABAD: The Department of Tourism in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Friday has released its annual report on tourist arrivals for the year 2023, revealing remarkable data and emphasizing the province’s growing attractiveness for both domestic and foreign travelers.
Under the direction of the World Bank’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Integrated Tourism (KITE) Centers Project 1422, extensive data was gathered.
Between January 1st and December 26th, 2023, 16,988,946 visitors visited the province’s several districts. Significantly, 4,554 foreign visitors came to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, highlighting the province’s growing appeal as a travel destination worldwide.

According to a survey by the Tourism Department, Galyat became the most popular destination in 2023, drawing in over 6.34 million visitors annually for leisure and sightseeing.
Both Malam Jabba and Naran Kaghan Valley attracted sizable numbers of visitors, with 5.08 million and 3.54 million visitors, respectively.
A total of 1,380,740 tourists visited Upper and Lower Dir in order to take in the area’s breathtaking scenery. During the year, Upper Chitral received 38,771 visitors, while Lower Chitral registered a noteworthy 591,330 tourists.
The number of foreign visitors offered a varied image, with 1,624 foreign visitors staying in Lower Chitral, the most. Foreign tourists visited Upper Chitral 791 times, Dir (Upper and Lower) 417 times, Swat Valley 237 times, Malam Jabba 588 times, and Naran Kaghan Valley 897 times.
These striking numbers highlight the diverse range of attractions that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has to offer, as tourists from both within and outside the country continue to express a growing desire to see the province’s magnificent scenery and rich cultural legacy.
The region’s futuristic economic development and global reputation as a top travel destination were demonstrated by the favorable trend in tourism.
