ISLAMABAD: On September 26 and 27, the Marriott Hotel Islamabad and Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) respectively conducted a two-day conference to commemorate World Tourism Day with the subject “Rethinking Tourism”.
The first day of the event featured a photography competition, a painting exhibition, a display of tourism stalls, a youth painting competition, an exhibition of heritage crafts, a tour of Islamabad for students and youth at PNCA, and a panel discussion on a range of subjects related to tourism in Pakistan.
The panel discussion on the development and promotion of tourism in Pakistan included Asim Ibrahim, Senior Vice President Operations for Hashoo Hotels.
The concluding session of the conference, which included the awarding of prizes for the photography and art competitions, was held at the Marriott Hotel Islamabad as one of the conference’s sponsors. This was followed by a high tea that the hotel had organised. Awn Chaudhry, the PM’s advisor on tourism and sports, attended as the main guest.
Aftab ur Rehman Rana, MD PTDC, Regional Director of UNWTO, Pakistan Association of Tour Operators, and Ambassadors all attended the ceremony.
