From early 2024, applications for family or dependent visas under Article 22 may be permitted, according to the Ministry of Interior.
However, this opportunity will only be available to a limited group of foreign nationals, such as physicians, postsecondary and applied education instructors, counselors, and others.
The government intends to form a committee to define the requirements for expatriate categories allowed to bring their families to the country; thus, the precise qualifying requirements have not yet been made public.
This project is in line with the interior minister’s and first deputy prime minister’s demographics plan, Sheikh Talal Al-Khaled.
In a related event, the insider revealed specifics of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries’ unique visa application process. This system imposes a punishment of KD 100 per day on tourists who stay in the country after their visa expires.
The rules also stipulate that hotel reservations must be made for the duration of the trip and that health insurance is required.
