PESHAWAR – The “Chitral Tourism Symposium,” which was co-hosted by the Tourism Department, Frontier Corps North, and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Culture and Tourism Authority (KP CTA), highlighted the importance of promoting Chitral’s cultural legacy and tourist potential.
The prominent attendees were Inspector General Frontier Corps (IG FC) North, Noor Wali Khan, Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry, and Barrister Feroze Jamal Kakahel, the Minister of Tourism and Information for Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The presence of DG Tourism Barkatullah Marwat, GM Planning & Marketing Ali Syed, GM Culture & Tourism Sajjad Hameed, Secretary Tourism Mutahir Zaib, and Manager Events Haseena Shaukat added a further touch of grandeur to the celebration.
In his speech, Minister Feroze Jamal Kakakhel emphasized the need to promote tourism and highlighted the symposium’s role as a venue for showcasing Chitral’s rich cultural diversity. He encouraged visitors to discover the area’s natural beauty and rich history.
Chief Secretary Nadeem Aslam Chaudhry gave an overview of government initiatives to promote tourism in Chitral, pointing out that the symposium will provide a forum for interested parties to discuss issues and determine how to proceed. He highlighted the effort to give visitors immersive local living experiences that will help them understand the cultures of the area, enhancing and broadening the attraction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa tourism.
Addressing the saturation in Galiyat and highlighting the necessity for cooperative efforts, IG FC Noor Wali promoted China as an alternate option. In order to improve Chitral’s tourism opportunities, he revealed the creation of a commission headed by Commissioner Malakand and local leaders.
While concentrating on developing essential infrastructure, the provincial government actively promotes tourism. Travelers from various countries visited Chitral in 2023; 789 locals visited Upper Chitral, while 1590 tourists, including locals, traveled through the area.
