QUETTA: Balochistan caretaker Chief Minister Mir Ali Mardan Domki has said the Gandhara civilisation has a significant importance in the international identification of Pakistan and measures were being taken to preserve the historical sites of Balochistan.
The chief minister addressed potential for tourism promotion with Dr Ramesh Kumar, the chairman of the Prime Minister Taskforce on Gandhara Tourism, and stated that every conceivable measure was being made to make Balochistan’s tourist destinations more effective.
According to him, the government has been attempting to provide basic facilities for tourists at these sites.
Mr Domki described the Gandhara culture as an example of brotherhood and tolerance, claiming that it would promote national unity.
According to Mr Domki, the Gandhara corridor, which would connect Islamabad with Buddhist countries via air, will stimulate tourism and result in an influx of tourists in Pakistan.
Dr Kumar, who is also the patron-in-chief of the Pakistan Hindu Council, informed the CM on the Gandhara corridor project, stating that two archaeological sites of the Gandhara civilisation were found in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, five in Sindh, one in Balochistan, eleven in Punjab, and four in Gilgit-Baltistan.
Dr. Kumar commended the Balochistan government for conserving Hindu historical places, such as the Hinglaj Mata shrine in Lasbela district.
The chief minister promised that the government will set aside monies each year for the sake of the Hindu community.
