Lahore: On December 18, the source said that the Punjab government would start building a “Darshan Resort” next to the holy Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur.
The Punjab Tourism Secretary, Raja Jahangir Anwar, revealed that the five-story Darshan Resort is expected to be built at an estimated cost of PKR 300 million, and that work is expected to start next month. The goal of this project is to make Sikh pilgrims who are traveling from all over the world easier to reach.
With Gurdwara Darbar Sahib about 500 meters away, the project is expected to be finished by the end of 2024. The Punjabi government has expressed its commitment to promoting religious tourism in the area by pledging full financing for the project.
Secretary Anwar gave a tour of the Darshan Resort’s features, noting that the top floor will have a mini-theater, a fitness center, and at least 10 rooms. In addition, the resort’s architecture provides a breathtaking aerial perspective of Kartarpur Sahib, which elevates pilgrims’ entire experience.
The resort project aims to encourage religious tourism and create a stronger connection for Sikh tourists who visit Kartarpur, a hallowed spot where Guru Nanak Dev spent his last years. It acknowledges the historical and spiritual value of this location.
