News outlets reported on January 12 that the Rawalpindi Arts Council has made the announcement that it will organize a two-day Gandhara Festival beginning on January 29. The festival will take place in Rawalpindi.
The event will take place in the Gandhara Centre and Taxila Museum, and it will include exhibitions, panel discussions, storytelling sessions, a documentary on the history of the civilization, a book market, a folk dance, and a Sufi night. Additionally, there will be a documentary on the history of the civilization. In addition to this, the Provincial Minister for Sports and Culture, Malik Taimoor Masood, will open an art show that will take place at the Rawalpindi Arts Council from the 31st of January to the 4th of February. The exhibition will run for a total of five days.
Rawalpindi Arts Council Director Waqar Ahmed stated to the media that the festival and exhibition have been organized to promote the oldest Gandhara civilisation that flourished from the middle of the first millennium BCE to the beginning of the second millennium CE in what is present-day northern Pakistan and Afghanistan. Waqar Ahmed was speaking to the media about the purpose of the festival and exhibition.
