Islamabad: A 7-km Alexander Road that runs through the Margalla Hills and connects Islamabad to the Haripur region of the Khyber-Pakhtunkhawa (KP) province is expected to cost Rs600 million.
Details indicate that a substantial rural development package worth Rs 20 billion will fund this road project, which would take four months to complete. This road would be built by the civic organization within Islamabad’s administrative boundaries, and it would end close to the Kenthla well at the boundary between Islamabad and Haripur.
The KP province would build the remaining stretch, and both roads would eventually be combined to create the quickest access point from the capital city.
This road is now in poor shape, but enlarging and renovating it will undoubtedly aid in boosting tourism in the Shah Allah Ditta region because the ages-old Buddha Caves are also nearby.
Additionally, there are plans to build parking lots on Alexander Road for domestic and foreign visitors. A park will be built along the route, allowing travelers to stop for a while and take in the area’s captivating scenery.
Environmentalists have some concerns about the construction of this route as well. They contend that rising construction activity has already had a negative impact on the environment.
According to a representative, we are pursuing a rural development package that will help a total of 36 areas with an estimated population of 200,000 people.
The Muslim Colony (Bari Imam), Nur Pur Shahan, Malpur, Shahdara, Mandla, Kot Hathial, Bani Gala, Lakhawal, Phul Garan, Ghora Baz, Tumair, and Lehtrar Road will also be included in this list. He added that we are finishing the formalities needed to build Alexander Road and can start the project in the next two months.
