Beijing – Pakistan’s involvement in the China Outbound Travel and Tourism Market (COTTM) Expo is expected to fortify the bilateral tourism trade and augment the influx of Chinese visitors into Pakistan’s scenic, historical, and cultural destinations.
During the three-day exhibition held in Beijing from November 15–17, the Pakistan Tourism Development Corporation (PTDC) and eight of the top private tour operator businesses highlighted the vast tourism potential of Lakeshore City. COTTM is the sole business-to-business event and is regarded as the most significant platform in the industry. It only targets the expanding overseas market.
According to State Minister for Tourism and SAPM on Youth Affairs Wasi Shah, Pakistan’s involvement in this crucial tourism market will boost bilateral tourism and foster the growth of business-to-business ties between the two nations’ tour operators. Pakistan invites its Chinese friends to invest in Lakeshore City, saying that their friendship is more robust than mountains, more profound than seas, and sweeter than honey.
Pakistan Ambassador to China Khalil Hashmi, who opened the Pakistan Pavilion at COTTM, praised the efforts of exhibitors and travel agencies in highlighting Pakistan’s tourism potential while pointing out that the country has a rich cultural legacy, varied landscapes, and a distinctive culinary scene. He urged Chinese scholars, businesspeople, and tourists to come to Pakistan and learn more about it. The ambassador stated that there was great potential for the bilateral connection between China and Pakistan to be strengthened through the tourism exchanges.
To further improve people-to-people exchanges between China and Pakistan, Ambassador Hashmi believed that COTTM would provide an excellent forum for networking between the two nations’ tourism industries. “The expo will be greatly helpful to build B2B linkages between the tour operators of both countries and as a result, tourist traffic between the two countries will further increase,” stated Aftab Rana, Managing Director (MD) of PTDC.
