Indian Sikhs Commemorate Ranjit Singh’s Anniversary in Pakistan

Over two hundred Sikh pilgrims traveling from India are expected to arrive at Gurdwara Punja Sahib in Hassanabdal on June 24 to take part in ceremonies commemorating the 184th passing anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. In the 19th century, Singh was the first maharaja of the Sikh Empire. During his reign, Punjab was under his control.

Officials from the Evacuee Trust Property Board (ETBP) stated that preparations had been made for the boarding and lodging of pilgrims. They also stated that both the main ceremony and the concluding ritual (Bhog) would take place at Gurdwara Dera Sahib in Lahore on June 29.

In response to a query, he stated that the group of Indian Sikh pilgrims will leave for Pakistan on June 21 and that the Pakistan embassy in New Delhi has already issued visas for 205 aspirant pilgrims. He was referring to the fact that these individuals are going to perform the Hajj.

“During their three-day stay at the Sikh shrine in Hassanabdal from June 21 to June 26, the pilgrims will perform different rituals,” an official said, adding that perfect security measures would be established in coordination with the district administration and law enforcement agencies. “The pilgrims will perform different rituals,” an official said. “The pilgrims will perform different rituals.”

He stated that the pilgrims would go to Gurdwara Dera Sahib, which is located in Lahore, on the 26th of June.

“They will participate in the main religious ceremony at Gurdwara Dera Sahib at Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s tomb on June 29, before heading back to India on June 30,” the official said. “On June 29, they will pay their respects at the tomb of Maharaja Ranjit Singh.”

In response to a question, an official from the ETPB stated that the pilgrims would also visit other Sikh sites, such as Gurdwara Rohri Sahib Eminabad, Gurdwara Darbar Sahib in Kartarpur, Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Farooqabad, and Gurdwara Janam Asthan in Nankana Sahib.

It is important to note that pilgrims travel to Pakistan twice throughout June. throughout the first week of the month, they travel there to perform rituals in connection with the martyrdom of Guru Arjan Dev Ji, also known as Jore Mela. On the last day of the month, they travel back through the Wagah border crossing.

The 17th of June and again during the last week of the month are set aside for the performance of religious rites in connection with the anniversary of Maharaja Ranjit Singh’s passing.
