ISLAMABAD, October 9, A.P. The government is dedicated to encouraging religious tourism in the nation, which would eventually boost the economy, according to Federal Minister for Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony, Dr. Aneeq Ahmed, who made this announcement on Monday. He emphasized the importance of Track-II diplomacy in fostering amicable ties with surrounding nations, which would support Pakistan’s regional trade and religious tourism.
He stated that the Hajj Policy 2024, which offers two packages for paying Hajj dues—in PKR and US dollars—has been approved by the Prime Minister. He emphasized that the targeted business community members should pay their Hajj dues in US dollars in order to strengthen the nation’s foreign exchange reserves.
He said that there will be no voting involved in the Hajj for those who paid in US dollars. According to him, the business community is the foundation of the economy and ought to encourage trade and exports in order to boost it more effectively. At the Seerat-ul-Nabi Course Certificate Distribution Ceremony held at the Islamabad Chamber of Commerce & Industry (ICCI), he made this statement in his capacity as Chief Guest. Speaking at the event, ICCI President Ahsan Zafar ICCI stated that the course was planned to teach members about the life of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) by the chamber in cooperation with the Religious Affairs Committee.
According to him, Pakistan has a lot of potential for religious tourism, and the government should do everything within its power to take advantage of this unrealized potential for the country’s economic growth. In order to help the business community undertake the Hajj, he suggested that the government set aside a certain amount for chambers of commerce in the Hajj Policy. He emphasized that for Pakistan to become a modern and affluent nation, the public and private sectors must collaborate. Renowned Islamic scholar Mutfi Adnan Kakakhel praised ICCI’s initiative in setting up the course to raise awareness within the business community and expressed his wish for this practice to continue in the future.
