Pakistan’s tourism sector is expanding. The country’s tourism market, however, has not been treated properly by the government.
Due to the government’s low priority for tourism, Pakistan is home to a variety of tourist attractions that have not been supported or maintained.
According to estimates, the tourism market has increasingly provided less revenue to the public and private sectors, which has resulted in less investment and innovation within the sector.
According to the most recent budget, more money was spent on defence and other fixed markets than on research and marketing.
Pakistan was placed 103rd out of 124 nations in the Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report (TTCR) 2008 by the World Economic Forum.
This low number was the result of a lacklustre infrastructure for travel and tourism, ineffective branding and marketing, and low emphasis given by the government to the sector.
The number of tourists has decreased yearly despite numerous promotions, including the Visit Pakistan 2007 initiative.
In comparison to last year’s data, it fell by 6% this year.
Pakistan is unable to meet global norms. The lack of standard and reasonably priced hotel rooms in Pakistan, the loss in funding for national and cultural resources, the current state of security, and the rise in inflation are the primary causes of the country’s low level of tourism.
To attract tourists to Pakistan, the government must adopt all feasible measures. By creating vacation packages that are suited to taste, advertising campaigns must draw tourists.
