The Babusar Pass has been closed earlier than expected due to severe snowfall, officials said a local media site. Deputy Commissioner Diamer Arif Ahmed, on the other hand, said that the closure could be temporary.
He stated that if the weather improves and the snow melts, the route will be reopened. It is worth noting that the pass is generally closed for eight months, from November to June.
The heavy snowfall has caused the local authorities to restrict road access ahead of schedule. During this time, the Karakoram Highway can be used as an alternate route.
“It is dependent on the weather.” “The pass is usually closed in November after heavy snowfall and freezing temperatures,” stated the Deputy Commissioner.
The travel from Diamer to Mansehra through the Karakoram Highway takes 14 hours as opposed to 7 hours via the Babusar Pass.

The lack of security and slippery roads also contribute to the months-long closure of the road. Recently, a tourist from Punjab lost his life during a robbery attempt at Babusar top.
According to details, the robbers had blocked the road with heavy stones to halt the vehicles. When the driver spotted danger, he decided to reverse the car. The victim, identified as Mohammad Rashid, died when the culprits shot the car.
